About
Rondebosch was where the very first Permanent Title of land in Africa was issued by Van Riebeeck. He named the area after a clump of thorn trees – ‘Het Ronde Doornbosjen’ – which over time, evolved into Rondebosch (round tree). Most of the students of the University of Cape Town live in Rondebosch. The Campus, which sits on the slopes of Devil’s Peak, stretches up the slopes – a landmark of the city. Other buildings of note and historical consequence include Mostert’s Mill (the landmark windmill) and the Presidential Home, where Nelson Mandela and FW de Klerk co-signed the ‘Groote Schuur Minute’, as a commitment to a peaceful negotiation process in 1990 – the beginning of the end of Apartheid.
Rondebosch Fountains lie in the centre of the suburb, where Belmont Road meets Main, and it’s here you can pick up, a bunch of fresh-cut flowers from the local flower sellers. Rondebosch is only 5 km from the centre of Cape Town, close to the M5 and M3, and access to Cape Town’s beaches and Kirstenbosch is easy.
Living in a digs means that you rent a room in a house occupied by students. You’re likely to live co-ed with other students (house sizes vary) and have your own room, but share common spaces like the kitchen, lounge, and bathroom. A student digs setup is a lot of fun and Rondebosch Digs is a spacious, safe and secure property, large enough to have your own space and still be in the company of others to experience a student digs lifestyle. Upmarket and well maintained, the Rondebosch Digs offers a wonderful student environment and a fantastic opportunity to enjoy all that a student lifestyle offers in a private residence.
We have been renting out the Rondebosch Digs to groups of friends and individuals since 2003. We offer an owner managed service with the goal of ensuring that Rondebosch Digs tenants are well looked after, are secure and safe and feel at home in their home away from home residence.
We are on call and available to ensure that all is well maintained and that all issues get resolved as soon as possible. We strive to give our student tenants a wonderful space to enjoy their study years and allow them to make the memories that we all remember from our student days and experiences.
The house is unfurnished and we arrange with new tenants to take over / purchase the appliances and furniture from the tenants leaving if required. We maintain a constant liaison with both the old and new tenants and ensure a seamless handover.
There is a Pre-paid Electricity meter and the handover of this and the domestic worker/s are arranged with the outgoing tenants and incoming tenants.
